One of the questions I get the most is how am I able to host these events and control everything, especially if nobody else is in the studio with me? Well, one of the tricks that we use is having a technician remote into the computer. So we’ll use different remote access software that give our video technicians access to the computer here in the studio so they can operate the show from the comfort of their homes.

Another really cool trick that we use that doesn’t require any extra help and it looks like this, gives you the ability to switch cameras, put graphics up on the screen, do just about anything and this is all done using a foot switch. That’s the big secret here. So here’s what it looks like. I have another one down at my feet that no, you can’t quite see in this camera view, but it’s down here at my feet and I’m able to step on which button, really easy to find, to know which button is which, and here’s what it looks like. This is a three pedal version. You can get single pedal, dual pedal or the big triple pedal version like this.

And essentially it’s like a big keyboard that you can step on. These are different buttons that you can set up however you want. So you could have this one set up to end a Zoom call, or you can have this one set up to mute your microphone. And this one to set up to turn your camera on or off. So these buttons on the footswitch can be mapped to whatever function that you want on your computer. Simply plugs in via a great big long, USB cable, really simple to do. And that’s one of the big secrets here. Really lets you amp up the production value. You can switch cameras, you can put graphics on the screen, do just about anything you want simply by using a foot pedal. If you’re hosting virtual events or even if you’re just hosting the occasional Zoom call, having a foot pedal, having dedicated the buttons to your most used functions is invaluable. I encourage you to give it a try!
